Black Anodized Frameless Glass Railing System

This custom black anodized frameless glass railing system was fabricated and installed on a luxury waterfront residence on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Designed to maximize ocean and bay views while complementing the home’s modern coastal architecture, the system combines clean aesthetics with the durability required for a harsh marine environment.

The project features multiple levels of frameless glass railings, including elevated balconies, outdoor living spaces, and a rooftop observation deck. Large tempered glass panels are secured within a custom black anodized aluminum glass shoe system, creating a sleek, unobstructed appearance with minimal visible structure.

A unique feature of this installation is the custom-engineered cap rail and lighting system. Select vertical supports were designed to serve as concealed conduits, allowing wiring to pass from the deck structure into the cap rail without exposed raceways or surface-mounted components. This approach preserved the clean, frameless appearance of the railing while providing integrated lighting throughout the project.

Because the home is located directly on the Jersey Shore, material selection was critical. Black anodized aluminum was chosen for its superior resistance to corrosion, fading, peeling, and salt-air exposure. Unlike painted finishes, anodizing becomes part of the aluminum itself, making it an ideal solution for long-term coastal performance.

Each section was custom field measured and fabricated to ensure precise alignment across the home’s multiple elevations and architectural transitions. The completed installation provides code-compliant safety, low maintenance, and unobstructed panoramic views from every outdoor living area.
